In 2017 Publishers Weekly named Minneapolis children’s book retailer Wild Rumpus “Bookstore of the Year”.
Not children’s bookstore of the year. BOOKSTORE OF THE YEAR. Period.
That’s really saying something. I started taking my daughters to Wild Rumpus over 30 years ago. Now I take my grandchildren. I don’t think I’ve ever walked out of the store without making a purchase.
Here’s a look at the the book shop exterior. Pretty much unchanged for decades, but it tells us a little bit about the fun inside. Grownups use the big brown door. The purple door is for kids!
